The Wednesday Microgreens Minute is a bi-weekly, quick-hit newsletter designed to give expert advice to health-focused persons as you head over the weekly hump.
Boas Festas!
I trust you are keeping safe and well.
Apologies for being out of contact for so long.
In addition to some family challenges, hackers managed to get into our Microgreens World website.
The situation is under control and is being monitored by our new security team.
A Fountain of Youth
Earlier this year in my research around arugula microgreens, I read a mention about microgreens being used in cosmetics.
Being a ”guy”, I didn’t pay much attention at first.
Until I found out my wife was a big Pinterest fan.
She showed me this picture and I was fascinated.
Microgreens Cosmetics
Right after my wife showed me that picture of microgreens skincare products, off, I went.
Based in Hungary, Eminence organic skincare has been around since 1959!
Welcome to generations of estheticians and 55 years of handcrafted skincare products, now infused with microgreens.

Some of the best foods for your skin include carrots, other yellow and orange vegetables, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables.
And if you were able to read my post, Nasturtium Microgreens: Everything You Need to Grow, Eat, and Use Them, you would know that the Incas are thought to have used it as a hair tonic.
Nasturtium tea applied to the head stimulates the capillaries and increases circulation and the flow of nutrients to the scalp.
Nasturtium-based preparations are used to treat skin, hair (dandruff), and nail ailments.
Eating a few nasturtium microgreens leaves daily is said to help clear up acne.
And they all can be grown as microgreens and plants like broccoli, radish, swiss cress, used in Eminence products.
Want to know where to buy it?
Just go here, Spa Locator, and enjoy.
I bought the Eminence Organics Microgreens Detox Collection – Stone Crop Cleansing Oil, Oxygenating Fizzofoliant, and Lotus Detoxifying Overnight Treatment – at Amazon for Christmas for my wife.
But to tell you the truth, I’m going to try the facial.
December: Worldwide Food Service Month
Food Service Safety Month is making sure the food you eat is healthy and is safe.
As we enter the holiday season, restricted as it is, food celebrations and festivities continue to play a big part in all our lives.
In a recent survey by Food Safety News, one in four home cooks is nervous about cooking the Christmas meal.
The survey, conducted in Northern Ireland, found that “one in six people aged between 18 and 34 years old will be cooking their first Christmas dinner this year.”
Cooking at home?
Going out to eat at a public place?
You can take some simple precautions to help you avoid the mishaps of food poisoning or unsafe hygienic practices.
Here are the basics:
- CLEAN: Wash your hands, utensils, and surfaces often when you cook. Don’t let your servers work when they are sick.
- COOK: Use a food thermometer to make sure foods are cooked to an internal temperature that kills germs (140°F or greater).
- SEPARATE: Raw meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs can spread germs. Separate them from cooked food and fresh produce.
- CHILL: Refrigerate perishable foods and leftovers within two hours. Chill within one hour if it’s above 90°F.
According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),
“every year, an estimated 1 in 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die from eating contaminated food.”
And, according to the United Nations,
“around the world, an estimated 600 million – almost 1 in 10 people – fall ill after eating contaminated food each year, resulting in 420,000 deaths.”

Anyone can get sick from food poisoning.
But some of us are more at risk of a more severe reaction.
- Adults aged 65 and older
- Children younger than 5
- People with health problems
- People who take medicines that lower the body’s ability to fight germs and sickness
- Pregnant women
There is no food security without food safety.
People worldwide are increasingly turning to micro-farming, vertical indoor farming, and urban gardening.
Today is an excellent time to increase food safety.
