Thanks for choosing to contribute to the Microgreens World Community!

We’re teaming up with some of the best minds to educate our community on the science, nutrition, and business trends of microgreens. By partnering, we want to showcase your thought leadership while promoting your brand as a trusted resource in your space.

We are a small company, but we always get inbound leads who aren’t quite the right fit for our services. When that happens, we prefer to refer these leads to trusted partners.

With that in mind, here are some guidelines and recommendations for each blog post or article you submit.

List of Desired Blog Post Themes and Topics

In general, posts we accept for guest content fall under the following themes:

  • Types of Microgreens
  • Microgreens Growing Techniques
  • Microgreens for Health
  • Microgreens Recipes
  • Microgreens for Chefs
  • Microgreens for Families
  • Sustainable Living with Microgreens
  • Microgreens Business
  • Indoor Microgreens Gardening
  • Hydroponic Microgreens
  • Microgreens Harvesting
  • Microgreens Supplements Reviews

We also accept posts that are relevant to microgreens growers, including:

  • Urban Farming
  • Vertical Farming
  • Farming Startup
  • Funding a Small Farm
  • Microherbs
  • Plant Science

Audience

A third of our community is just learning about microgreens. Another third are microgreens growers (home gardeners primarily), and the remaining third are a mix of consumers, commercial growers, and researchers.

Who is in the Target Market for Microgreens

The key segments of the target market for microgreens include:

HEALTH-CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS People who are health-conscious and are looking for nutrient-rich foods
People who are looking for a convenient and easy way to add more greens to their diet
People who have allergies or intolerances to traditional greens
FOOD ENTHUSIASTS People who are interested in trying new culinary trends
GOURMET CHEFS Professional chefs who are looking for new, innovative ingredients
HOME GARDENERS
SUSTAINABILITY ADVOCATES
People who are interested in supporting local farmers and businesses
ENTREPRENEURS Individuals looking to start their own businesses who are or might be interested in the commercial production of microgreens.

This demographic reflects the diverse ways our community interacts with microgreens. So we aim to cover every step of the journey, whether they are tasting microgreens for the first time or cultivating them on a commercial scale.

While brainstorming what to write about, ask yourself these questions:

  • Will this topic be relevant to the Microgreens World audience?
  • Will this post offer solutions (that don’t require the purchase of my product)?
  • Am I qualified to write about this topic?
  • What insight can I bring to this topic that nobody else can?

When in doubt, get in touch with me at marketing@microgreensworld.com.

Application for Guest Blog Post

Note: We want content from people with hands-on experience in growing, harvesting, packaging, and marketing, as well as a scientist or researcher. If you’re a freelance writer or a marketing agency looking for exposure for your client:

Send your contact information, topic, and article to marketing@microgreensworld.com with the subject line: Guest Blog Post.

Guest Post Content Tips

The guiding light behind our blog is to share educational, engaging, and entertaining content. All product-focused or promotional content requires us to review and use the product, and we may ask for an affiliate fee.

We’ve built a high level of trust with our customers because they know we will never push something on them that we don’t 110% believe is in their best interests, even when that means telling them not to use our services. Being overly self-promotional destroys that trust, even if your advice is good.

Instead, use our blog to showcase your expertise with potential new customers. If people find your content valuable, they’ll research you all independently. Likewise, our team will happily use your content to make warm introductions to you when appropriate.

Posts should be 1,250 – 1,500+ words in length. This length is a sweet spot with our readership, and you’ll fit in with the rest of our blog this way. Longer is good, too.

Break up your content so it’s easy to read. This organization means including headings, subheadings, bullets, and any other visual elements to increase the readability of your piece.

Write in a natural, conversational tone. We want to share content that is authoritative but not robotic. We’re producing blog content — not Wikipedia pages, so don’t shy away from showing off your sense of humor. If your guest post was a movie, the highest rating we’d want to see on it is PG-13.

All content MUST BE ORIGINAL. We do not accept duplicate or syndicated content as guest posts. If your post has appeared anywhere else on the web, we can’t publish it on our blog. If you quote other content, provide a link to it.

Always name your sources. We understand you’re an expert, but our audience might be unsure. If you’re going to drop some stats (i.e., “open rates jumped 55 percent overnight”), link back to the original source.

Talk about your real-world experience. Talk about mistakes you’ve made, plans you’ve built, and strategies you’ve executed. Draw on your personal experience to speak authoritatively about what you know.

Take a position. Discuss why the mainstream viewpoint is wrong or misleading if you disagree with common wisdom about a topic. Back up your perspective with facts. Take screenshots. Include interesting data. Support your arguments with external references.

Other Things to Include in Your Guest Post

  • Statistics. Research shows that 94 percent of people are 53 percent more likely to believe content supported by 26 percent more data. (Okay, that’s made up. But try to include verifiable first or third-party research, statistics, and data in your post.)
  • Outbound Links. Does somebody else have a great point of view on a topic? Want to make sure people know a specific definition of a word or concept? Link to it. Make sure these links are to authoritative sites. Only link to your site if it’s a highly relevant blog post.
  • Lists and Bullets. We’re fans. Readers are fans. Most people skim articles until they find the value. Bullet points make this easy.
  • Actionable Takeaways. Recap the takeaways of your article as bullet points at the end of your post.

NOTE: *Microgreens World reserves complete editorial control and may edit or tweak submissions as we see fit. These tweaks include removing too much self-promotion to optimize for SEO, making small and large edits, and more.

Guest Post Logistics

  • First, we’ll collaborate and agree on a topic and title. Don’t start writing until we’ve done this!
  • Once we’ve agreed on the topic, please give me a deadline for when you expect to submit the article for us to review.
  • After you’ve written your draft, send it to me as a Google Doc. Use these sharing settings:
    • On – Anyone with the link;
    • Access – Can edit.
  • I’ll edit this Doc, so make a copy if you’d like to keep an original version of your writing.
  • Send a short, couple-sentence bio. This bio can include a link to your LinkedIn profile or website.
  • I’ll let you know when we schedule the post to go live.

Guest Post Promotion

Please feel free to promote your post through your social media, newsletter, or link to it from your blog.

You can even include a snippet of the post on your blog, with a link back to the original content on our site (this is important so that we both avoid duplicate content penalties).

Guest Post Pricing

Unless you are a regular writer contracted by Microgreens World, our fee for a Guest Post that meets our policy standards is $90.

NOTE: This price does not include any outbound/external links.

All guest articles have a brief 30-to-40-word bio of the author.

They are marked as “sponsored” if they contain advertising or sponsored links.

Posts without links are on the site for a timeframe that is at our discretion.

These posts help promote up-and-coming bloggers.

There are strict content rules.

All posts must be directly relatable to microgreens.

Guest “Do-follow” Link

“Do follow” links are subject to the Guest Blog Policy. The article we link to must be relevant to our audience.

The “do follow” is considered a backlink and is free if reciprocated.

If the article promotes a product, it is automatically a “sponsored” link, and we must review and use the product to verify its acceptability.

“Do-follow” Domain Authority Score

The domain authority of the referenced site must be greater than Microgreens World, which is currently 27.

We prefer to link to sites whose domain authority is greater than 50.

“Do-follow” Link Pricing

“Do follow” links without product promotions are $30 per month unless there is a reciprocal backlink, in which case there is no charge.

There is a recurring fee of $30/month for any blog residing on the site for more than 90 days.

You are welcome to negotiate an annual deal of $250.

Guest Posts, Link Insertions, and the Google Policy

Link insertions are $30 per month if non-product.

Links insertions with product promotions are $50 per month.

All links are rel=”sponsored” as per Google guidelines.

As per Google guidelines, guest posts with links to products or inserted links to products in existing posts must be marked as “sponsored.”

Annual Links are a one-time $250.

Permanent Links are a one-time $750.

IMPORTANT: Paid Guest Posts with links are advertisements as far as Google is concerned.

The importance of this observation is that failure to label advertisements is not only misleading to readers but may also violate laws that prohibit misleading advertisements.

Whether it is legal or not is something one should discuss with a lawyer because the line between what’s legal and illegal can be nuanced.
